Empowering individuals to overcome obstacles and discover healing through compassionate counseling services.

Our vision

Harmony Mindfulness aims to empower individuals on their unique journeys through a client-centered, anti-oppressive, and anti-racist approach. We meet individuals where they are, identifying their strengths and where they need support. We offer tailored solutions to life challenges, to discovering greater distress tolerance, emotion regulation, more self-compassion, and meaningful and sustainable change.

I chose this profession because I genuinely care about people and have a passion for helping them navigate life's difficulties. One of the reasons I am so dedicated to this work is because I have personal experience supporting a parent with a diagnosed mental illness. This firsthand experience has taught me the importance of respect, active listening, and helping individuals find their own solutions for their mental health and overall well-being. I use EMDR therapy to aid clients in processing challenging emotions and memories so that they do not have the same intensity. This allows individuals to heal and move forward in their lives.

I am also a parent, so I understand the joys and challenges that come along with parenting. My background in child welfare has given me over 15 years of experience working with children, youth, and families. During this time, I focused on a family-centered and strengths-based approach, helping individuals share their stories and identify their strengths, worries, trauma histories, and stressors. I also worked collaboratively with families to problem-solve and improve safety for children using solution-focused techniques. My current work also involves supporting staff and support workers through burn out, overwhelm and vicarious trauma in their work, educational, and clinical settings.

I firmly believe that resilience can be developed through self-awareness, self-care, mindfulness, and maintaining a hopeful outlook. To further my knowledge and skills, I completed a Bachelor of Social Work at York University and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Waterloo. During my studies, I gained practical experience at a rehabilitation hospital where I provided psychosocial assessments and supportive clinical social work.

In my counseling practice, my goal is to create a safe and empowering relationship with individuals seeking support. I have worked with individuals dealing with issues such as grief and loss, palliative diagnoses, depression, anxiety, suicidal behavior, and stress.

As a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, I am committed to ongoing education and professional development. I also maintain my membership with the Ontario Association of Social Workers. Outside of my work, I find relaxation by reading books and going for walks.
